Retired members from the 117th Air Refueling Wing who participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion were present during a grave side wreath laying ceremony honoring Thomas Pete Ray. Ray was the only Alabama Airman who was killed during the invasion that was returned to the United States. Ray's grave site is located in Forest Cemetery overlooking the Birmingham Airport.
