Sumpter Smith JNGB, Ala. -- This month’s Excellent Airman is Staff Sgt. Haley Snook, a member of the 117th Air Refueling Wing (ARW) Command Support Staff!
After graduating from high school, Snook enlisted into the Pennsylvania Air National Guard on June 1, 2018. She began her military career as a Customer Support Representative and Career Enhancement Representative with the 193rd Special Operations Force Support Squadron (FSS).
She agreed to join the military with one of her best friends, who enlisted in the Air Force Reserve, while Snook joined the Air National Guard because it was closer to home. Snook spoke highly of her time within the Guard and some of her favorite aspects of the job included additional training, teamwork and TDY’s.
In June of 2023 she transferred to the 117th ARW to Wing Command Support Staff after her husband re-enlisted and moved to Mississippi in November of 2022. Snook currently lives on an active-duty base in Columbus, Miss., with her husband who is serving in the Air Force as a Security Forces Specialist.
“Any opportunity where my husband is volunteering, I am usually volunteering with him,” said Snook. “We’ve done 24-hour rucks for Police Week, and I volunteered for the Airmen Against Drunk Driving (AADD) for the Octoberfest they hold in September and October. If there is an opportunity that I can volunteer on base over there, I jump in and help.”
“I really enjoy being here at the 117th,” Snook said. “Everyone is so nice.”
