SUMPTER SMITH JNGB, Ala. -- U.S. Air National Guard airmen from the 117th Medical Group were continuing to perform medical screenings for COVID-19 of all mission essential personnel as they entered the base here on March 27.
The response was due to the increase from Health Protection Condition Bravo to Charlie.
The screenings will continue until further notice and consist of taking temperatures of the mission essential personnel entering the base. They are asked a few questions such as if they have experienced any respiratory issues or other symptoms of COVID-19. They are also asked if they have come in contact with anyone showing signs of the virus or that has tested positive.
“Our mission is to keep the virus out of our gate,” said 2nd Lt. Janele Sharp, the 117th Medical Group Administrative Officer. “Now we are screening everybody that comes on the base,” said Sharp.
The goal of the 117 MDG is to keep all essential military personnel healthy so they can continue to carry out the mission.
