GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. -- Personnel from the 117th Civil Engineering Squadron transported the Mobile Emergency Operations Center to Lake Guntersville on June 24.
They assisted local public safety and emergency management professionals during Hydrofest, an annual three day boat racing event.
Senior Master Sgt. Richard Bailey and Senior Airman Zachary Cates of the Readiness Emergency Management Flight set up the MEOC and coordinated with Anita McBurnett, Madison County EMA Director and Incident Commander on how the MEOC was to be configured as a dispatch center for the event.
"The MEOC is such an integral part to the Public Safety Communications Operations," said McBurnett,
Ricky Little, Alabama EMA Regional Director said, “the capabilities of the equipment and the professional assistance made for a successful mission. The National Guard was a tremendous help in making Hydrofest a very successful mission and provided the communication element we needed to link the various Public Safety Agencies together.”
The event strengthened the relationship between the 117 ARW and civilian agencies within a joint training environment.
