117th Air Refueling Wing Receives National Award

The 117th Air Refueling Wing was presented the 2017 DoD Reserve Component Family Readiness Award by Major General Mark Sasseville, Deputy Director, Air National Guard on behalf of Lieutenant General L. Scott Rice, Director of the Air National Guard at the Hall of Heroes in the Pentagon March 20, 2018.

“The 117th Air Refueling Wing is the gold standard of family readiness. Their robust program directly contributes to the readiness of the Wing and aligns with the Director's priority of building 21st century airmen.” Said Sasseville.

Mrs. Joy Miller, Airmen and Family Readiness Program Manager enlisted the help from Ms. Lisa Gamble, Personal Finance Coordinator, Lt. Col. Daryl Hamaker, Wing Chaplain and Ms. Kimberly Easley-Taghzouit, Director of Psychological Health to supply information and statistics on events held throughout the year which was included in her packet for submission.

Sasseville highlighted how the 117th fought for and gained a full-time personal financial counselor for the Wing. The personal financial counselor engaged over 1200 personnel on financial management, providing no-cost counseling and education to help service members conquer financial challenges. The 117th airmen and family programs held their second annual military resource and services trade show in August. The trade show is for all branches of the military, and showcased over 30 agencies that provide assistance to military members. Sasseville added that the exceptional accomplishments of the 117th Air Refueling Wing are attributable to outstanding efforts and visions set by their leadership.

Col. Scott Grant, wing commander, Chief Master Sergeant David Bollard, Wing Command Chief, and Mrs. Joy Miller, Airmen and Family Readiness Program Manager accepted the award on behalf of the 117th.
