Pete Ray, Leo Baker, Wade Gray and Riley Shamburger from the Alabama Air National Guard were shot down on April 19,1961 while flying B-26 bombers during the Bay of Pigs invasion. The Bay of Pigs was a Central Intelligence Agency mission. It was intended to use Cuban exiles to invade the island of Cuba and start a revolution against Fidel Castro.
